In our experience over 60% of patients suffering from chemical addictions have concurrent mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, sexual abuse/addictions, bipolar disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Alcohol acts as a depressant and is a contributor to despondency and other more severe forms of depression.
